First Byline:
Enoch Autry

For those who have a continuous hankering for watching Screven County Gamecocks of the past and the not-so-distant past suit up in red and play on this SCHS campus, the Tri County Panthers’ semi-pro football team may be just to your liking.
The Panthers will play their home games on the practice field at Screven County High School. They will be wearing red and black and there are some familiar names.
Among the players are James Howard, Michael Scott, Prince Charles, Tony McCoy, Justin Ziegler, Theo Williams, Tyrone Mingle, MJ Johnson and Chris Pye.
And the list continues.
“We are talking about bringing another championship to Screven County,” said assistant coach Joseph Williams.
Williams said the Panthers’ defense is solid and he expects to to get better as more players arrive.
expects to to get better as more players arrive.
“Right now we are looking good and as the season progresses we wil get better,” Williams said.
The Panthers will have speed. Williams said the team has at least eight players who run a 4.4 in the 40 yards.
He said the Panthers will run the ball with Scott, Howard and others.
“We keep good running backs here,” Williams said. “If you control the clock, you control the tempo of the game.”
