Baseball Gamecocks whip home-standing East Laurens 10-4

Scoring five second-inning runs, the SCHS baseball Gamecocks downed the home-standing East Laurens Falcons 10-4 Tuesday night to improve to 10-4 on the season, 4-2 in 3AA play.
Another region contest against Laney was scheduled for Wednesday night and the Roosters are scheduled to head to Augusta Friday evening to face the defending region champion Westside Patriots.
The April 2 game was set to be played after the Sylvania Telephone’s press deadline.
Next week the Red and White will host East Laurens Thursday, April 10, in a makeup of a contest rained out on March 7. The following night Jenkins County will be here.
Given early support, Carl Heindel made the second inning outburst stand up as he hurled a complete game three-hitter, allowing just one earned run. The senior walked four while striking out 12.
Aaron Brower was the leading hitter with a pair, while Bailey Pollock and Caleb Krulic had two RBI each. The Roosters had eight hits on the night. A four-run sixth put the game away for Heindel.
The Laney game last night was a makeup of a rain out March 28.
A bitterly disappointing loss for the Gamecocks on March 26 saw the team blow a 13-9 seventh inning lead to fall to home-standing Cross Creek 14-13.
Especially frustrating was the fact that the Razorbacks achieved their five-run rally with a mere one hit.
The remainder of the base runners, obtained from three pitchers, came in the form of an error and four walks.
In addition to their five-run outburst, the home team also put up eight runs in the second.
For the Roosters, Brower, Shadon Kemp, and Brandon Whatley had a pair of hits each with the former pair having three RBI each. Whatley and Jacob Smith had two RBI each.
Kemp had a homer among his hits.
