Run Run Rudolph 10K, 5K, Dasher Dash to benefit local United Way

A “Run Run Rudolph” 10K, 5K and children’s Dasher Dash will be on Saturday, Dec. 2, on the same of this year’s Christmas Extravaganza downtown Sylvania event.
The morning run will benefit the United Way of Screven County. The fee for the 10K is $40; 5K $30 and Dasher Dash $15. To register online through Active online, go to  http://tinyurl.com/runrunrudolph.
United Way board members and volunteers urge individuals to participate it the first-ever Run, Run Rudolph, which has a 5K, 10K or 1/2 Mile Dasher Dash.
The event benefits the United Way of Screven County. Red Rudolph noses will be provided for all of the participants.
The half-mile Dasher Dash is for participants under the age of 12. It will start and end at the Market on Maple, looping through downtown Sylvania.
Both the 5K and 10K races begin at the Market on Maple Farmers Market downtown.
Each of the routes take runners through downtown Sylvania. The 10K course will cross a bridge in the center of town; pass through two local neighborhoods; with the final mile running in front of beautiful historic homes on Main Street.
The 5K course will feature Sylvania’s main business area; homes and neighborhoods along Main Street; and a challenging hill in the final mile.
Both routes will finish back at the starting point, and Sylvania promises to be decorated in full Christmas attire that can be enjoyed on each of the run.  
Registration price includes a T-shirt and runners packet. Register soon to make sure you get a T-shirt as orders are turned in to the printer.
Registration on Dec. 2 begins at 7 a.m. at the Market on Maple. Participants are asked to please bring ID with you to registration.
The half-mile Dasher Dash will start promptly at 8 a.m.
The 5K and 10K races will have simultaneous start times, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Refreshments and awards will be be presented at the end of both races. Medals will be given for the top three male and female finishers in each race.
For the 10K race, there will be an hour-and-a-half cutoff.
Ample parking will be available around the market, with additional parking available behind Sylvania First Methodist Church.
