Josey here for Homecoming football game

Josey’s reeling Eagles will be at Kelly Memorial Stadium Friday night for a 7:30 kickoff in the annual Homecoming game for the Screven County Gamecocks of Ron Duncan.

While the Gamecocks have a 15-game regular season winning streak, the Eagles will come in on a six-game losing streak since winning their first game of the season over currently 0-7 Groves.

Rooster fans can expect to see a wide-open attack that will frequently feature as many receivers as legally possible.

Two weeks ago the Westside Patriots ended a 13-game losing streak against the Eagles. Harlem took the measure of Josey 36-8 last week.

SCHS currently rides an 11-game Homecoming win streak with the last three being shutouts over Westside 40-0; Windsor Forest 32-0; and Harlem 53-0. The last time the Gamecocks lost a Homecoming game was Oct. 21, 2005, and that was to Southeast Bulloch.

Favorite opponents for Homecoming during the streak have been Harlem, Windsor Forest, and East Laurens at twice each. Josey was the opponent on Oct. 20, 2006, when the Red and White were 25-20 victors.

Tomorrow’s contest will mark the 16th in a series that dates back to Oct. 23, 1970, and the first year of total integration of the public schools of Georgia. The Roosters took that one 14-6 at Kelly Memorial Stadium. SCHS lost five of the first seven, but has won the last eight in a row to lead 10-5. The most recent three, including last season’s 46-0 win in White Road Stadium, have seen the Red and White win by a combined 137-12.

Ron Duncan is 3-0 against the Eagles.
