Grand jury indicts 22

Twenty-two were indicted in Screven County Superior Court on Oct. 2 by the grand jury in front of presiding judge F. Gates Peed.
Among those cases heard by the grand jury, James Allen Ponder on indicted on multiple offenses in two separate cases.
In the first case, Ponder was indicted on unlawful or any person to purchase, possess, or have under his control any controlled substance; purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale of marijuana; possession of drug-related object; and possession legal when drugs in original container.
On the second case, Ponder was indicted on manufacture/deliver/distribute/administer/sell/possess with intent to distribute controlled substance; fleeing or evading police or roadblock; driving under the influence or drugs; reckless driving; open container violation; adult seatbelt; no tag on vehicle (exception big truck); and four counts of endangering a child by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Shelby Leann Widener also was indicted by the grand jury in two separate cases.
 In the first, Widener was indicted on a count of aggravated assault. In the second, she was indicted for unlawful for any person to purchase, possess, or have under his control any controlled substance; forgery-first degree; and forgery-second degree.
Dennis Allen McBride Jr. was indicted for rape; kidnapping; false imprisonment; and two counts of aggravated assault.

Branden Jerell Atkins – Unlawful for any person to purchase, possess, or have under his control any controlled substance; driving under influence drugs/alcohol; and ran stop sign
Dillon Michale Barnette – Possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies; battery-family violence-subsequent conviction or prior forcible felony conviction-felony; purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale of marijuana; two counts of aggravated assault; and two counts of cruelty to children-third degree
George Justin Cail – Aggravated battery; and aggravated assault
Philomena Carter – Theft by taking-felony
Gavin Mitchell Glisson – Unlawful for any person to purchase, possess, or have under his control any controlled substance
Joshua Wayne Hinnant – Theft by taking-felony
Derrick Jerod Howard – Burglary-first degree
Zacheriah Miller Jr. – Burglary-first degree; possession of anhydrous ammonia; and burglary-second degree
Chantel Laquanda Mincey – Theft by taking-felony
Rickie Christopher Mong – Burglary-first degree
Steven Morse – Forgery-second degree; and unlawful for any person to purchase, possess, or have under his control any controlled substance
Justin Blake Newton – Unlawful for any person to purchase, possess, or have under his control any controlled substance; purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale or marijuana; possession of drug-related object; willful obstruction of law enforcement officers-misdemeanor; driving under influence drugs/alcohol; endangering a child by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; failure to maintain lane; and open container violation.
Brandy Joleene Prescott – Aggravated battery; and cruelty to children-first degree
James Roberts – Deposit account fraud $1,500 and above
Gregory Lee Schultz – Theft by taking-felony
Doris Smoaks – Printing, executing, negotiating checks, drafts, etc. knowing information is in error or fictitious
David Gardner Wilson – Unlawful for any person to purchase, possess, or have under his control any controlled substance; purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale of marijuana; possession of drug-related object; and adult seatbelt
