Tickets available for Sept. 17 Flapjack Give Back fundraiser kickoff

The Flapjack Give Back to support the United Way of Screven County will be during the evening hours of 5 to 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sylvania on Thursday, Sept. 17.
This campaign kickoff will have specialty pancakes prepared by local celebrity chefs as Rachel Thompson returns to defend her treasured title from last year’s Waffle-Off.
For $5 per person, you get top-notch celebrity-prepared pancakes, sausage and grits. Also you have the chance to put some “tip” money into the jar of your favorite chef.
Advance $5 tickets are available at Queensborough National Bank And Trust, who is sponsoring the event; Bank of Newington; Sylvania Telephone; and United Way office.
Along with reigning champion Thompson will be celebrity chefs Andy Clifton, “Mrs. Kat” Ponder, Matthew Kersey and Willie Mingle.
All the money raised from the event goes toward the United Way of Screven County’s campaign’s goal.
Also, do not forget to sign up for the annual Between Two Rivers Bike Ride as routes of 5, 12, 30, 62 and 100 miles are mapped out for Saturday, Oct. 3, throughout Screven County.
To sign up to ride a bicycle, visit the United Way website of www.screvencountyuw.org.
The United Way also has other fundraising chances for people as Possum Eddy has donated a Yeti cooler for an opportunity drawing. Tickets will be available for that drawing soon.
The local United Way supports 17 non-profit agencies that help Screven Countians lead better and healthier lives.
