A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in memory of American patriots who fought at the Battle of Brier Creek during the Revolutionary War.
The public is invited to attend the service, which will be held at the Family Life Center of the First Baptist Church.
Memorial wreaths will be presented by patriotic organizations. Among those participating in the service will be the color guard of the Georgia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, in period uniforms; the Brier Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and members of the Remember Brier Creek Committee.
The committee is trying to create a national historic site at the battlefield, which is in the Tuckahoe Wildlife Management Area.
Bill Ramsaur will speak about the creation of tourist brochures on the major conflicts of the American Revolution in Georgia, which includes the Battle of Brier Creek.
