It’s Thanksgiving so it’s time to think about Christmas

Saturday Extravaganza excitement now merely one merry week away

The Screven County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Extravaganza will be on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 3-7 p.m.
The Candy Land Christmas parade will start the festival at 3 p.m. in downtown Sylvania.
The Extravaganza will offer a variety of activities like a live nativity, petting zoo, carriage rides, Victorian carolers, mechanical bull, bounce houses, amusement rides, nativity hay ride, pictures with Santa, craft booths, food vendors and more will be on hand.
The chamber has expanded the Christmas Parade this yearas those in the parade stay with the Candy Land theme and throws candy in the parade.
The Chamber asks people to wear their Extravaganza T-shirts on Friday, Dec. 1, to help promote the community event and it also will help give extra points when the judging is done for the business Candy Land Christmas decorations.
The chamber will recognize the best decorated business in the Sylvania Telephone, the chamber’s social media and on the chamber website. Voting will take place on Dec. 1.
Live entertainment at the Extravaganza will be provided by our Screven County Elementary School Chorus, Screven County High School Band, Studio 23 Dance Academy, Southern Charm Twirlers, Maggie’s Academy of Dance and Alexis Dynamic Dancers.
The Syvlania downtown merchants will be open for people’s Christmas shopping needs. Purchase an item for $5 or more at one of our downtown businesses during the Christmas Extravaganza, and be entered into a drawing to win a beautiful Christmas wreath graciously provided by Bloom Florist.
If you are concerned about missing the SEC Championship game? Well, don’t worry. The chamber has that covered as well.
Come cheer on your team in the SEC title game at the chamber’s GAME ZONE that will be located in the City Hall parking lot.
Businesses 2 Stream Mobile and CM City have provided two 65-inch big screen TVs and satellite service to live stream the game at the Christmas Extravaganza.
Bleachers will be provided but feel free to bring your chair.
