'Zeus' no longer on loose

The canine that has been missing since a Sept. 29 that tragically resulted in the death of a 6-year-old Screven County Elementary School first grader has been found and returned to its owner.
The dog known as “Zeus” is a service dog that went missing when the dog’s owner collided into the vehicle at the intersection of Poor Robin Road and Highway 21.
The dog’s owner lives in Hilton Head, S.C., and has been traveling back to Screven County help look for the pet.
The dog reportedly had been seen multiple times in the area near where the crash occurred. The dog was found on the property of the Black Creek Scout Reservation on Poor Robin Road.
Zeus was seen by construction crews who were working on building the camp’s new dining hall.
However, the dog would run away when someone approached.
The camp ranger Nick Scovanner and his wife Linda were able to get close to the dog by playing with him using a tennis ball.
The owner was contacted and the dog was returned home.
