Arrest made in theft of $20,000 worth of jewelry
A Metter man has been charged by Sylvania police with the theft of $20,000 worth of jewelry from a residence.
Gregory Lee Schultz, 27, was charged with felony theft by taking. Schultz was arrested at his residence in Candler County on July 25 and officers were able to recover all of the missing jewelry.
Sylvania Police Department responded on July 17 to a residence on South Lake Drive to investigate the report of a residential burglary. The complainant advised officers that she was missing approximately $20,000 of jewelry.
The victim told officers that the jewelry had been hidden inside her house and she was unsure as to who could have taken the items.
After the case was turned over to the Sylvania Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Sylvania police with assistance from the Criminal Investigations Division unit of the Metter Police Department and the Candler County Sheriff’s Office arrested Schultz.
