Wild About Screven event on Sept. 19

It’s time to go Wild!
The annual Wild About Screven Festival is this Saturday, Sept. 19.
Organizers have the FoSCA Wild About Animals 5K Fun Run/Walk at 7 a.m. on Saturday, starting in the Queensborough Bank parking lot and finishing up at Cail Center.
That would be right across the street from the Wild About Screven Arts & Crafts Festival starting at 10 a.m. and going on until 4 p.m.
Funds raised by the 5K will go to support FoSCA’s mission to rescue and rehome the homeless pets of Screven County.
The festival will have live entertainment, plus tons of kids’ activities, arts and crafts booths, a mini-health fair and safety zone, and more.
Some of the highlights from the Arts & Crafts Festival will include the Amateur Photography Contest and the Screven County Elementary School Student Art Exhibit, located in the courthouse.
There also will be bouncy houses, mechanical rides, a wildlife exhibit featuring cool and creepy critters like snakes and reptiles, and a petting zoo.
A range of food vendors selling items ranging from hot dogs to ice cream to barbecue and more.
Some special events also are scheduled during the festival.
The first, at 2 p.m., will be selecting the winners of our amazing Wild About Screven Opportunity Drawing. For only $5, you could win one of the following:
1. A guided quail hunt for two provided by Sonrise Outfitters, worth $450
2. A 30-minute massage from Heavenly Excape Spa, worth $60
3. A basket full of delicious local treats from Zandra’s Kitchen Delights, worth $45
4. A $25 gift certificate from Georgia Wilderness Outfitters
5. 100 Bay Gall Sporting Clays, worth $35
Then at 3 p.m. will be the annual Dog Show which is a lot of fun, especially with all the hilarious costumes – and it’s for a great cause, as the proceeds of the dog show are donated to FoSCA.
