County approves budget

The Screven County Commission met adopted the 2015-16 budget Tuesday.
The commission voted yes to adopt the fiscal year budget, which was distributed last week for public knowledge. 
The board also elected to increase the Community Center rental fee from $125 to $150. The increase was proposed by the Recreation Advisory Board.
The county will surplus four vehicles that belong to the Screven County Sheriff’s Department as well, as Sheriff Mike Kile proposed that the cars be sold off.
The final two motions that were made and passed were approving the 2016 Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant project list. 
An application will be submitted to the Georgia Department of Transportation. 
The commission also appointed Sylvania-Screven Fire Chief Gary Weaver to the Department of Family and Children Services board.
The next Screven County Commission meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7 at 9 a.m.
