Local man faces charges in Texas

A local man may head west to face criminal charges that allegedly involve a minor.
Gregory Milliken, 38, of 2325 Burton’s Ferry Highway, was arrested Tuesday and is expected to be extradited to Liberty County in Texas for a charge of indecency with a child.
Milliken – who received a not guilty verdict in a separate July 2012 case in which he was charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, statutory rape, and child molestation – is accused of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl in March of this year in Texas.
On May 23, 1999, Milliken was caught in the middle of a sexual act with a 15-year-old girl in Cleveland, Texas, which is part of Liberty County. During Milliken’s 2012 trial, the arresting officer of the 1999 case was a witness. The 2012 trial pointed out to jurors the minor girl lied about her age to Milliken, and was not a major turning point in the trial.
Milliken has a scheduled extradition hearing today, and from there he will be extradited to Liberty County in Texas under his own will or a process of the court.
In Texas, the March 2014 charge Milliken is alleged of doing is labeled as engaging in sexual contact with the child or causes the child to engage in sexual contact, which is a second degree felony. There are also stipulations of not using duress, force, or a threat against the victim at the time of the offense or at the time of the offense was not required to register for life as a sex offender. Milliken is a registered sex offender due to his previous 1999 arrest.
