Our community prays

The National Day of Prayer in the City of Sylvania  was May 1 as the community came together for a moment of bowing of collective heads.
The theme for the 2014 observance, being chaired locally by Mayor Margaret Evans, is “One Voice United In Prayer” based on Romans 15:6 which declares: “So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The day started with a 7 a.m. invitation-only Youth Prayer Breakfast at R & D’s Restaurant. Local ministers, educators, dignitaries, Y-Club members and other leaders were scheduled to participate.
An open to the public prayer service was held in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church at mid-day.
Offering prayers of praise and petition to God will be local ministers and elected officials. Also participating will be students from the Community Christian School.
